Function completed a move for US company Advent Software across London in three phases and with exceptional communication requirements. In addition to the management of the project from the USA, one of the buildings in question is next to a major Crossrail construction site, so Function needed to carry out extensive liaison with contractors to ensure a smooth move. On top of that a nearby night club needed to be consulted to ensure that both the move and the club’s business could carry on unaffected. Communicating with the building manager for Advent’s data centre was an important part of the planning given the critical work of a software company.
Phase one involved a 30 person move from serviced offices into the existing WC2 office. Phse two was moving all 90 staff from WC2 to the new office at the Charing Cross Road/Tottenham Court Road junction where the Crossrail works are being carried out. Finally the off-site server equipment was relocated from Docklands to Surrey.
The server move involved a full decom/demount from rack, pack, move, unpack and remount into new racks to the client’s specification before testing. The engineers put in a 16 hour shift to minimise downtime.
