Function's services make it easy for businesses of any size to dispose of redundant office furniture and equipment without damaging the environment. In addition, Function works in a way that makes disposals as economical as possible by choosing the most appropriate method of recycling for any office clearance.

More than half a million tonnes of unwanted office furniture is sent to landfill every year. London is one of the worst cities in the world for recycling.
One of Function’s objectives is to help clients meet corporate and social responsibilities by putting redundant office furniture to good use, or at least recycling. We offer an environmentally- friendly and sustainable solution that won’t cost the earth.

Furniture Resale
All disposal items are assessed for resale. From experience and an understanding of the current marketplace, any proposal for disposal work will include a rebate for items that have a resale value. Function’s furniture shop is constantly updated and shows current stock.

Disposal of IT and Electrical Equipment
The aim of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) is to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. Function offers a service to comply with the WEEE Directive for all redundant electrical and electronic equipment and for media such as tapes, floppy disks, CDs and DVDs.

Furniture Free
Function Function Free’ is a service for charities, providing good quality second hand office furniture – for free. Charities and social initiatives that are registered with Function can shop for furniture on a dedicated part of the Function Office Furniture e-shop. Function stocks the shop with items gifted from Function Move clients who have moved unsaleable equipment that is diverted from landfill. Clients are welcome to nominate charities for registration to the scheme.

Furniture Disposal
Remaining equipment, that cannot be re-used, is broken down into component materials, such as wood, plastic and metal, for recycling. All separated materials are then taken to licensed recycling facilities.
